In the Dojo

When training in a Dojo we are not actually fighting. We should try to use this time to further our understanding of the application of the attack and defensive technique. Aikido training is a cooperative exercise, not a competitive one, the study of techniques with a partner, not an opponent.

Being in the Dojo provides a good opportunity to study with people who have different physiques and characteristics.

Please read Dojo Etiquette for the Do's and Dont's of how to behave in the Dojo.

Please be punctual and try to be on the mat 5 minutes before the lesson starts. If you arrive earlier you can practice by yourself or with other students. If you arrive after the class has started you should wait at the edge of the mat for the instructor to signal that you may join in the class.

If you have any injuries please let the instructor know straight away.
