Weapons

Aikido sometimes involves the usage of weapons. These weapons are an extension of ourselves and as such should be shown the same respect, they are bowed to before and after their use. The Bokken, wooden sword and the Tanto, knife should be held with the blade facing yourself, in front of the body and a bow performed to the Kamiza. The Jo, short staff should be held horizontally in front of you, then bow to the Kamiza.
